Gregory A. Aarons, Ph.D.

Gregory Aarons, Ph.D. is a Research Scientist at the NIMH supported Child and Adolescent Services Research Center in San Diego, California and is Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Aarons' most current NIMH supported work examines individual provider characteristics and organizational factors that impact provider attitudes toward adoption of evidence-based practice and effective implementation of evidence-based practices in child-welfare. Dr. Aarons is an investigator on two ACF grants focused on NSCAW youths. His work in child-welfare includes studies of implementation of evidence-based practices in a statewide child-welfare system, examination of the impact of behavioral health policies on insurance instability among youths in the NSCAW sample, the role of common and unique risk factors for substance involvement and substance use disorders among youths in child-welfare, and the relative impact of childhood maltreatment and post-traumatic stress disorder on women's health.
